Warriors coach Steve Kerr sets rookie record
Steve Kerr set a new record for wins in a rookie season as his Golden State Warriors beat the Dallas
Mavericks 123-110 Saturday.
The Warriors boast a 63-13 record, and with the victory they clinched home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.
Kerr’s 63rd win bests the previous record set of 62 set by Tom Thibodeau in 2010-11 with the Chicago Bulls and Paul Westphal 62 with the Phoenix Suns during the 1992-93 season.
“Great scene in there, and I wasn’t really thinking about the significance of the record,” Kerr said.
“Those guys were. They presented me the ball, and how lucky am I to coach these guys in my first year?
Ridiculous.”
Golden State need one more win to secure the best record in the NBA for the first time since the 1975-76 season.
Klay Thompson scored 21 points, Marreese Speights and Andre Iguodala each had 18 for the Warriors’ 12th win in a row.
Stephen Curry tacked on 11 points.
The Warriors will next take on the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.
