Rainford Kalaba is the new skipper of the Zambia team ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
The Chipolopolo will face Cape Verde,
Congo D.R and Tunisia in Group of the completion which begins on January
17, 2015.
Kalaba took over from Stopilla Sunzu who voluntarily relinquished the armband insisting he wants to concentrate on his core responsibility as a defender for the team.
At a brief handover ceremony at the team’s camp Johannesburg, Stopilla said he was grateful that he had been given such a big responsibility especially that his reign was during the qualifiers for the Orange Africa Cup of Nations Equatorial Guinea.
He also emphasized the need for collective responsibility saying though he would be the one to wear the arm band he recognizes that other senior players are captains in their own right.
Coach Honour Janza says he is happy with the humility of Sunzu who has decided to put team interest above self, saying that his action is a true mark of great leadership.
