Kano Pillars have shown that they are that strong pillar in Nigerian football has the bagged their third title in a row after triumphing over Nembe City by 4-0.
Pillars retained their title after Enyimba battled to a 1-1 draw against Dolphins in their fixture in Port Harcourt same day.
However, both Pillars and Enyimba will represent the country in the 2015 CAF Champions League.
Pillars top the league standings with 65 points from the 37 matches followed by Enyimba with 61 points.
Warri Wolves (60) and Nasarawa United (57) are placed third and fourth respectively.
Wolves were held 1-1 at home by Gombe United the game between while Nasarawa and Enugu Rangers ended in a goalless draw in Enugu.
“It is technically official! Kano Pillars are the Glo Premier League champions for the third consecutive season,” the League Management Company tweeted
immediately after the match.
They LMC added, “With 65 points; one more match to go, no team can surpass Kano Pillars this season.”
Meanwhile, Niger Tornadoes on Saturday defeated Prisons FC 1-0 in a Week 29 match of the Nigeria National League in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the match played at the Area 3 Sports Complex saw Yakubu Alfa scoring the only goal against already relegated
Prisons FC.
Both sides had several goal scoring chances.
However it was the visitors who looked more dangerous and deservedly scored after a goal-mouth scramble in the 42nd minute.
Prisons FC had nothing to lose, while Tornadoes had a lot to play for as they are still in the race for the second promotion ticket in Group A to Nigeria’s elite league.
Tornadoes came into the game 6th on the log with 44 points and needed to win to ensure that they kept pace with other contenders.
Tornadoes coach Godwin Uwah told reporters after the match that he was happy with the away victory.
