Luiz Suarez scores a brace for Barcelona B team in their 6-0 win against Indonesia’s U-19s with former Arsenal player Thomas Vermalen also on the score sheet.

Suarez netted once in each half and looked sharp in a comfortable run-out for Barca B, in which fellow summer signing Thomas Vermaelen also appeared – and scored – following his return from injury.

The Uruguay striker is still serving a four-month ban for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup and cannot make his official debut until October 25, when Barca meet Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the season’s first Clasico clash.

Suarez saw part of the sanction lifted on appeal in August and was able to return to training and subsequently make his debut for the first team as a late substitute in their Joan Gamper game against Mexican side Leon, which Barca also won 6-0.

Making his first start for the club as Luis Enrique looks to build up Suarez’s match fitness ahead of a first-team return next month, the striker looked lively from the
outset as Barca B dominated almost at will.

The former Liverpool striker won a corner early on and, from the resulting set piece, fellow summer signing Vermaelen headed home to make it 1-0 on his first
game in Barca colours after returning from injury.
