IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion Carl Froch still hopes to hold his next world title defence in Las Vegas – despite mounting talk his next fight will be against James DeGale in London.
The 37-year-old had said he may retire if a contest with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Vegas did not materialise.
Froch now says he has had lengthy talks with coach Rob McCracken and promoter Eddie Hearn about boxing in America.
“I’m trying to hang in for Las Vegas,” Froch told BBC Radio Nottingham.
“It’s the fight capital of the world and many of my heroes have boxed there. I have not ever been there to fight, but it would tick a massive box in my wonderful career.
“And if it’s not then Nottingham Forest’s City Ground would be the next best thing because Nottingham is my home and I am a proud Nottingham man.”
But Froch, who defended his titles against George Groves at Wembley in May, said the venue is not the key factor in keeping him from hanging up his
gloves.
“I have one – maximum two – fights left in me, but it’s got to be right and motivate me,” Froch said.
“I need to be fully charged and motivated to get the best out of me which is what I showed in the last fight against George Groves at Wembley.”
