After 7 years of living in Sweden 25-year old Nigerian striker Kennedy Igboananike received
Swedish passport and is now eligible to play for national team of Scandinavian country. He was never tested in national team of Nigeria
and can we blame him for eagerness to play in the interntional competition.
Stephen Keshi has never said a word about Igboananike and it seems that AIK Stokholm’s striker is not in Big Boss’ plan.
Even those post-World Cup.
In this case it is understandable that Igboananike might decide to represent Sweden. He spent there last 7 years – so pretty much he lived there for entire
adulthood. Local media would like to see him in national team’s jersey and he could create an interesting partnership with Sweden’s top star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Sweden are a team regularly playing in top tournaments. They won’t be in Brazil this year, because in European play-offs Portugal turned out to be better, but traiditions and potential are on their
side.
Swedish citizenship is also opening new door for Igboananike. With EU passport it will be much easier for him to find job in England or Netherlands, than it
is for players outside EU. Last season he bagged 14 goals for AIK and allegedly clubs from England, Turkey and Russia are interested in his acquisition.
According to Innocent Okeke quoted by
Footballtransfers.com if called-up Igboananike will accept invitation to national team of Sweden.
