Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has labelled Roberto Martinez a better tactician than Manchester United boss David Moyes.
Moyes has come under-fire in recent weeks due to
Manchester United’s poor results throughout the
season – with reports suggesting he could be given
the boot if results do not improve.
The former Everton boss, who is looking to steer the
Red Devils to the quarter-finals of the Champions
League tonight, has not even been able to garner
support from Toffees star Barkley.
Barkley, 20, who was handed his debut by Moyes in
2011 has taken a swipe at the former Everton by
insisting he is happier plying his trade under the
Spaniard.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Daily
Mail, Barkley said on Moyes and Martinez: “He’s
similar to David Moyes as they both like to take over
the training session and be the main man.
“But Martinez is more tactical. We do a lot more
tactical work which is good for me because I’m young
and still learning.”
Moyes instead reportedly prefers to focus on
maintaining his players’ fitness and working on their
defensive set-up.
The Manchester United boss will need to deploy an
attacking formation tonight if his side are going to
have any chance of progressing to the latter stages
of Europe’s most prestigious competition.
